DESCRIPTION:
Remarkebly "enjoyable"!! I found this book very much to my enjoy. I have always being doing pantomime, but never heard the "almost" complete story about this type of art. This women captures some of the earliest form of mime like if you were there, and gives you a root on where and how the art of the mime began since the beginning. Lots of references and resources included.
Kathryn Wylie is an associate professor in the Department of Communication and Theatre Arts at John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York.
The second part looks at pantomime, from the shamans to modern theatrical performers such as Deburau and Marceau.. The origin and essence of the Western mime are examined in the first part of the book. Traceable to the masked roleplaying of Greek theater, many of the sacred functions of mime in early rituals were carried into later secular performances
