In The Next 100 Years, Friedman undertakes the impossible (or improbable) challenge of forecasting world events through the 21st century. --Jon Foro. Friedman is well aware that much of what he predicts will be wrong--unforeseeable events are, of course, unforeseen--but through his interpretation of geopolitics, one gets the sense that Friedman's guess is better than most. Read This Book and Be Prepared for The Likely Future Events RVBASECAMP I am giving this book five stars because it was difficult for me to but it down. The writing of this book, best I can tell, was completed in 2009. If that is incorrect, I apologize. Being that I subscribe to STRATFOR, I am already a bit of a fan of Mr. Friedman's work and analysis of global issues. I finished reading the book January 2016, approximately six years after its completion. What I found most fascinating is how accurate Mr. Friedman predictions seem to be thus far. I know six years is still very early in his hundred year prediction. That said, even if the book is absolutely wron. "Fun SWAG at the future" according to Jack Wilson. I have enjoyed this as a work of speculative fiction. No doubt highly educated speculative fiction. But, as this was published around 2009, and written in 2008, the last 8 years of foreign policy and world events are not factored into his analysis. I concur with him on many points, the rise of Turkey(as a caliphate, not remaining a secular entity), Japan as a re-emerging military power in the north Pacific(they have to), Poland as an emerging power player in Europe(again they have to), the deterioration of China's economy(already happening), war with Russia(watch the news). The things he. Martin van Creveld said Worth reading.. The author fails to deliver on his promise to discover a "new," let alone superior, method of looking into the future. Instead, he resorts to such phrases as "stranger things have happened." The outcome is a mishmash of various predictions, some of which may come true whereas others will prove false. The volume is written with considerable verve and makes one think. That is why, though it may not be a reliable guide to the future, it is nevertheless worth reading
