DESCRIPTION:
Becoming Brilliant offers solutions that parents can implement right now. While the US economy becomes ever more information-driven, our system of education seems stuck on the idea that "content is king", neglecting other skills that 21st century citizens sorely need. In just a few years, today's children and teens will forge careers that look nothing like those that were available to their parents or grandparents. Backed by the latest scientific evidence, this book introduces the "6Cs": collaboration, communication, content, critical thinking, creative innovation, and confidence, along with ways parents can nurture their children's development in each area.

This book helps to keep a perspective on expectations. My opinion of course.. "Today's schools are doing a great job of preparing our children for the working world of 1953" Alvin Today's children will need a completely different skillset in the working world that exists in 20 years than we grew up with. This book describes those skills and practical tips parents can use to develop them. (Hint: unpacking groceries together counts.
