The use of pseudonyms and the changing of other case details detract somewhat from the narrative, though, since sometimes the facts as stated clearly conflict with the actual facts of the case. I think the authors changed names and details in order to protect the women, some of whom are out of prison now, but the end result is that those familiar with the actual cases may have some trouble believing any of the narrative because it's unclear if the woman isn't telling the .
