DESCRIPTION:
Buy the Fully Restored Edition for the illustrations! J. Sexton I actually had to buy this book twice. The Kindle Chios/Perennial Press edition was missing the illustrations. The Kindle "Fully Restored Edition" included them and helped the mystery make sense.I thoroughly enjoyed this mystery. I thought it played fair with the reader. I loved Hercule Poirot. I cannot believe I hadn't read this before and ha. Good book, but missing pivotal images -- look elsewhere This is not a bad Agatha Christie book, especially given that it's free, but this particular Kindle version is missing images (drawings, letters, and other evidence) crucial to understanding the storyline. Project Guttenberg does have a Kindle-compatible version that contains the original images.. "2 stars for illustrations, not story" according to JennStrauss. I have not finished this book yet. I am sure it will be excellent! 2 chapters in, and it has already captured my interest. (This review is for the "illustrated unabridged" edition with "free audiobook") However, the "illustrations" are, in a word, AWFUL! I am the type who would rather have the story with no pictures. I bought this version spec
The Mysterious Affair at Styles deals with the case of an old woman poisoned with strychnine for her money. In this first novel by Agatha Christie, she introduces the inimitable Hercule Poirot, who would go on to appear in 33 Christie novels and 54 short stories. Nothing is obvious, however, in the way Christie handles a plot. The story spirals round and round, leading the reader in one direction, then another, convincing the reader that first one character, then another is the guilty party.. Outside of Sherlock Holmes and perhaps Philip Marlowe, he is the best-known detective in the history of the genre
