I haven't played in almost Great for Starting Over I haven't played in almost 30 years and recently got a student cornet mostly to improve my lungs now that I have asthma. This book is very complete and goes from almost absolute beginner to some fairly complex material by the end. It is a fairly thick book too so there is a lot of material. The CD to play along with is excellent as well and makes it more interesting also helps your timing, rather than just tapping your foot. It even goes into complex time signature like 6/8 and covers the scales and has a fingering chart at the end. This book progresses at a good pace, explains things well, and has some nice tunes.I have found it useful developing my jazz abilities having started to learn trumpet from a classical/concert band perspective.My one quibble is that the CD doesn't have lead in beats. The trumpet just starts playing, so it's hard to play along.
